What is needlepoint?


Needlepoint is a form of counted stitching worked on Zweigart canvas using yarn or thread. Stitches are typically worked through an open mesh canvas to create decorative designs for pillows, ornaments, bags, belts, and more.

Is needlepoint beginner-friendly?
Yes! Needlepoint is beginner-friendly. If you can thread a needle and follow a chart, you can needlepoint. 

What’s the difference between needlepoint and cross-stitch?
Needlepoint is stitched on a hand-painted or stitch-printed Zweigart canvas and typically fully covers the surface, while cross-stitch is worked on fabric and usually leaves background fabric visible. Needlepoint stitches also offer more texture and flexibility.

 

 

Products & Kits

What canvas sizes do you offer?
Canvas sizes vary by design. The mesh size (e.g., 13-mesh, 18-mesh) and finished dimensions are listed on each product page.

Are your canvases hand painted or printed?
We carry both printed and hand painted canvases.

What needles are needed?

  • For 18 mesh we recommend size 22 needles

  • For 13 mesh we recommend size 20 needles

We sell both sizes of needles on our website.

What threads should be used?

We are happy to help you choose threads for your projects.  We offer select threads for purchase online with the full thread collection available in store. Kitting for projects is available and will be at an additional cost.

What’s included in a kitted needlepoint?
Each kit typically includes:

  • Hand-painted or printed canvas

  • Coordinating threads or fibers

  • A needle and threader

  • Scissors

Do you sell canvases without threads?
Yes! All of our canvases are available for purchase with or without threads. Threads are sold separately at an additional cost. 

Will you kit projects on demand?
Yes, we will. Be sure to note in your check out that you want the canvas kitted and we will contact you to discuss options and will send a separate invoice for fibers.

 

 

Finishing

Do you offer finishing services?
We offer finishing for pillows, cosmetic bags, ornaments/charms, wall art and more. Contact us for more finishing services. We also sell several self-finishing products in store.

Do you sell fully stitched canvases?

We do not sell already stitched canvases. We sell Unstitched canvases and threads for customers to personalize and do on their own. 

 

 

Orders & Shipping

How long does shipping take?
Orders are typically processed within 3-5 business days and are shipped out once a week. Shipping times vary based on location and shipping method selected at checkout. 

Do you ship internationally?
No, at this point we only ship within Canada. 

Can I change or cancel my order?
If your order hasn’t shipped yet, please contact us as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to help.

 

 

Returns & Exchanges

Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Due to the nature of needlepoint products, all sales are final unless an item arrives damaged or incorrect.

What if my item arrives damaged?
Please contact us within 5 days of delivery with photos of the issue, and we’ll make it right.

Do you offer custom designs or wholesale?

At this time we do not offer in-house custom designs or wholesale. However, if you are interested in a custom design please email us at info@stitchnbitchsisters.com and we will try to facilitate and put you in touch with someone.
